Information for Parents
What is Rainbow?
Rainbow is a non-profit character building, service oriented organization.
Why is it called "Rainbow?"
In the book of Genesis of the Bible, after the flood God made a covenant with people that He would never again destroy the earth. He placed a Rainbow in the heavens as a symbol of that covenant. Rev. Mark Sexson, our founder, believed that this symbol of God's love was an appropriate symbol for the Order. The Rainbow and its colors provide the inspiration for the lessons that are taught in the ceremonies of the Order.
Is Rainbow religious?
The values promoted by Rainbow are strong and basic to many religions. You do not have to be a Christian to be a member.

What is the goal of a Rainbow Assembly?
The main goal is to help its members become more than they dreamed possible. Rainbow teaches every member that they can make a difference in their world and become a better person. Girls learn the skills to excel in schoolwork, become involved in the community and shine in all that they do.
What Virtues does Rainbow teach?
Rainbow teaches girls three basic Virtues: to have Faith in a Supreme Being, other people and themselves; to have Hope in all they do; and to be Charitable, because to live a life of service is the most rewarding life of all.
What important life Lessons do Rainbow Girls learn?
Rainbow girls will hear short lectures about the most important Lessons in life. These are taught using the colors of the Rainbow. Each color 'station' of the Rainbow represents one of 7 important Lessons - Love, Religion, Nature, Fidelity, Immortality, Patriotism and Service.
Do Rainbow Girls have a uniform?
Rainbow has a ‘dress code’ for all members and adults for all functions. At business meetings, church-like attire is appropriate. For other special meetings, the Rainbow dress code specifies formal dresses be worn.
What are the expenses involved in Rainbow?
The benefits of Rainbow far outweigh the costs. The expenses typically occur in the following areas:
* Application Fee – A girl applying for membership in an Assembly is required to pay an application fee. Part of this money is used to purchase the books the girls will need and to subscribe to the quarterly newsletter.
* Yearly Dues – Each member is asked to pay dues once a year. Each Assembly sets the amount of its yearly dues. Part of this money is kept at the local level, with the remainder going to the state (Grand) and international (Supreme) governing bodies.
* Attire - Purchasing a long dress or gown or other clothing. Older Rainbow girls will often donate their “old” gowns for others to wear.
Are there travel opportunities?
YES! A Rainbow Girl can attend any local Assembly, Grand Assembly or Supreme Assembly. Traveling expenses may include hotel room cost, registration fees, and any fun activities involved as well as souvenirs. Although traveling to other Assemblies, Grand Assembly or Supreme Assembly is not required, it is so much fun for the girls to meet other Rainbow Sisters within the organization. Often, the costs incurred for travel are partially offset by fundraisers.
What is the Ritual?
The Ritual contains Rainbow’s teachings based on right living and thinking. In this book, there is a script of words that the girls will say during formal meetings and open ceremonies. When a member holds an office in the Assembly she learns her station’s lecture from the Ritual. By presenting a memorized lecture, Rainbow Girls learn about public speaking and leadership.
